DescriptionPainting of “King Menelik at a Tribute Festival.” King Menelik appears in the center of a group of three persons sheltered under a pavilion in the top right. Colorful banners appear across the top of the painting. Drummers are at the top center, and other musicians appear in the central arena. Three tables are set with knives, plates and flasks, and surrounded by guests dressed in white. Two pairs of men carry slabs of meat on a pole, and women pour honey mead into barrels in the foreground. One armed guard oversees the pouring, while another accompanies the musicians.
