DescriptionReligious painting, “King Menelik Erects the Tomb at Aksum.” In the center is a large image of twin obelisks at Aksum. King Menelik appears at the bottom, to the left of the tomb, among many others. A similarly large group appears to the right of the tomb. In the upper right, is the Church of Saint Mary of Zion and its sanctuary called Bethlehem where Communion is prepared. Along the upper left and lower right are swordsmen. Signed bottom left: Artist Ta. Tamrat] Mamo.
