DescriptionPainting of a “Hunting Scene.” This genre scene includes images of successful hunts, such as the celebrating elephant hunter in the top left or the hunter carrying game home in the bottom right. Elsewhere there are scenes of animals trampling or attacking the hunters. A man sickened by malaria appears on a stretcher on the far right. At the bottom left, three figures are making gourd containers. The inscription uses a derogatory term to identify them as people from the hinterland.
