DescriptionPrayer rug from northeast Persia (Iran) attributable to the Baluch. “Tree of life” motif on natural camel ground. Cruciform and eight-point star motifs interspersed between branches of tree in main carpet field. Rectangular panels at top left and right feature designs also seen in Turkmen weavings, specifically those of the Saryk. Main border comprised of dark blue, ivory, and red floral designs and frames contour of prayer arch.
