DescriptionRug attributable to the Bahlul tribal group and executed in northeast Persia (Iran). The main field is comprised of diagonal rows of ashik guls. Field repeats of these motifs are typically found in the designs of Baluchi balishts or grain storage bags. Rug woven with symmetric knots. Main border composed of blossom motifs on red ground. Running dog and barber pole minor borders. Motifs reflect a loose, freehand drawing style more typical of village weavings than a more formalized production environment. Plain woven kilim on both ends.
