DescriptionRug from northwest Afghanistan or northeast Persia (Iran) possibly attributable to a Turkmen weaving group (Yomud). The main field pattern is comprised of “kochak” or ram’s horn designs arranged in diagonal rows. These motifs are fertility symbols. Primary border features “atanak” or cross pattern typically ascribed to the Tekke or Yomud tribes. Running dog as well as s/dragon motif minor borders. Striped flat woven kilim on one end.
