DescriptionGhali (main carpet) attributable to the Kizyl Bash tribes of the Veramin region in north-central Persia (Iran). Resembles a kilim design but pile is woven using silky wool. Dark indigo-blue ground main field with four vertical rows of birds’ head medallion designs. In between these rows are diamond-shaped motifs with similar bird head imagery. Primary border features ram’s horn motif on an ivory ground.
