DescriptionRug attributable to Baluch (Bahlul group) executed in either Northeast Persia (Iran) or Western Afghanistan. Symmetric knot. Cross-like motifs in main field represent talismans for good fortune. Scholar James Opie might suggest that medallions in the main border resemble animal-heads. Minor borders consist of running dog or ocean wave motif. Stripes of flat weave on top and bottom kilim ends.
