DescriptionRug possibly attributable to the Baluch from Ferdous region in Northeast Persia (Iran). The Ferdous region was production and collection center for Arab rugs. Main field pattern consists of leaf motifs arranged in a diagonal orientation on a camel wool ground. The leaves are meant to represent fertility. Primary border appears to be a geometrized version of a trefoil florets Baluchi border in which rosettes and leaves alternate with three Minâ Khâni flowers, but possibly incorporates abstracted elements from Kurdish or Herati border designs. A reciprocal trefoil or Laleh Abbasi design surrounds main carpet field.
