DescriptionBag face attributable to the Afshar tribal group that was once a part of a complete “khorijin” or saddle/donkey bag. Field design consists of a classic Afshar pattern featuring bird imagery (possible Herati pattern). Main border design as well as use of red and red/orange are also typical of Afshar weavings. Free-floating Boruti or Khaf guls on a midnight blue background surround Herati design of main field on left side. The Herati design is often used on saddle bags and small rugs. Although some of these designs have been tentatively attributed to the Sanjâbis, several of these weavings have also been identified as belonging to the Afshar group.
