DescriptionWoman’s shawl made from aso alaro cloth woven on a man’s horizontal loom in strips of approximately 4.5” width. Strips are sewn together edge to edge to form this shawl. Each strip is striped in black, maroon and green, with an indigo blue stripe in a simple ikat pattern. Hemmed. Aso alaro cloth is characterized by a plain weave of dyed cotton including indigo with warp stripes of white, light blue and red as well as ikat designs.
