DescriptionMan’s embroidered raffia skirt. The skirt is assembled from various pieces of hand woven raffia cloth decorated in various techniques. The main panel, pieced because of its long length, is dyed dark red and is decorated with black and natural embroidered linear elements forming large and small diamonds. Small circles are within the small diamonds. Interspersed within the larger diamonds are horizontal openwork elements with natural or black raffia zigzags. The textile has a black and white patchwork border on the two long sides and one short side. On the long outer edges there are a narrow red-dyed band and natural colored raffia fiber tufts.
